Nature Journaling: September 2022 Highlights

This month we ended up taking a trip to Sequoia National Park. My parents and sister’s family came too, and I had loads of fun leading a little nature journaling class!

These pages were from observations taken at Crescent Meadow, one of my favorite spots.

Back at home a few days later I noticed one of our palm trees was sprouting seeds! I’d never seen it do that before (maybe my observational skills are improving?)

On one of our evening walks the kids and I took some notes on local plants and wildlife we’ve seen around our neighborhood lately:

We also took a few trips to Hesperia Lake Park, where we saw several different bird species, including pelicans and an egret! Not something I expected to see in the middle of the desert!

It’s been really fun and rewarding adding these nature journaling sessions in to break up the monotony of school days. And it’s much more enjoyable now that the weather is a little bit cooler!
