Recently I was asked to do a commission piece that was intended as a gift for someone. I was given a lot of freedom to choose the subject, but when I was told that they love the Storybook Land attraction at Disneyland, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
One of my favorite parts of the ride is Pinocchio’s Village (which is weird since Pinocchio is definitely not one of my favorite Disney movies), and decided to make that the focus of the painting. Here’s the initial sketch:

Finally I added in the final details and lighting effects, and blurred the background slightly to give it a bit more depth. Here’s how it turned out:
