The second drawing for my Barn Owl Art series is done! I meant to take more in-between photos this time but it kind of got away from me. Here’s what I remembered to get of the drawing progression.
I used the same technique as the previous owl drawing, with colored pencil for the main part of the drawing and black carbon pencil for the background. I really like the velvety texture of the carbon pencil, and that it provides a nice contrast to the lighter colors of the owl.
I’m planning at least one more drawing for this series (though more will probably come later, I’m having a lot of fun with these!). For the next one I think I want something a bit more dynamic and maybe include some kind of background element. Time to get to work sorting through references…
